Dean's Strategic Priority Areas

Our priorities are based on key areas that drive positive change. They confront obstacles to people leading healthier lives and enrich the future of public health. Learn more about our four strategic priorities below.

Precision Public Health

An emerging transdisciplinary, community-engaged approach that makes science work for communities by deploying population-specific data to provide the right intervention to the right population at the right time — with a focus on reducing health disparities.

Climate and Health

Confronting the dire threat of climate change and its impact on global health, Pitt Public Health is engaged in research, education and policy related to this challenging issue — one that disproportionately impacts marginalized communities.

Engaging Younger Generations

Inspiring the youngest students to make their mark on the world, Pitt Public Health’s Bachelor of Science degree program launched in Fall 2022 — in addition to the Summer 2022 launch of Public Health Science Academy for high school students.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Pitt Public Health is passionate and committed to addressing issues such as Pittsburgh’s high Black maternal mortality rate, transgender youth violence, and health disparities across Latinx communities. Embedded in our commitment is an investment in increased diversity among students, faculty and staff.
