The University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health is accepting applications for four Tenured Professor & Department Chair positions. Just like our beloved city of 446 bridges, Pitt Public Health is a school like no other. Infectious Diseases and Pandemic Science - requisition #21006261.  Currently known as Infectious Diseases & Microbiology, the Chair will contribute directly to a reimagined and renamed Department focused on improving population health around the globe through the prevention and control of infectious diseases. This position will build on a strong Department foundation in infectious diseases research, education, and practice by driving broad collaboration on sustainability, preparedness, and pandemic science across the research continuum—from bench and clinical to population and community health.  The Chair will also lead the transdisciplinary faculty, staff, and students into a new era of discovery, encompassing pandemic science, climate and health, One Health, and global health, bringing a dynamic vision of the importance of global public health in the 21^st century. 

Behavioral and Community Health Sciences - requisition #21006593. Behavioral and Community Health Sciences is dedicated to improving and promoting health, wellness, and equity by engaging individuals, communities, and systems through research, teaching, and practice. The Chair will lead the faculty, staff, and students into a new era of community-engaged precision public health research. This expanded focus will build on the Department’s strategic priorities centered on community engagement, social influences on health, methods innovation, and promotion of health equity through tailored and population-specific intervention strategies. The Chair is expected to play a key role in the expansion of interdisciplinary research and collaboration. Two areas of growth include the integration of behavioral and community research and practice with family medicine practice, and the forging of new partnerships with regional county health departments.

Biostatistics and Data Science - requisition #21007045. Currently known as Biostatistics, the Chair will contribute directly to a reimagined and renamed Department that is anticipated to play a prominent role in regional biomedical, health care, and public health systems, and community practice.  The Department sustains an active program in the development of statistical methodology and the application of statistical and computation approaches via collaborative public health and health sciences research projects.  As the leader of faculty, staff, and students, the Chair is expected to bring a compelling vision and effective management skills to cultivate innovation in methodologic approaches and to robustly apply biostatistical and computational techniques to the rapidly expanding use of biomedical data. A priority area of growth is the use of transdisciplinary data science to examine and counter complex health problems.

Epidemiology - requisition #22000201. It is expected that the incoming Chair will have the skills to foster broad collaboration across the health sciences schools and across the research continuum from bench to clinic to population and community health and that the Chair will support the department in leveraging new methodological techniques such as multi-omics, large cohort and health system data, and causal inference frameworks. Importantly, this individual will be part of a cohort of new leaders at Pitt Public Health embracing the School’s four priorities in research and education that include: precision public health; climate and health; diversity, equity and inclusion; and inspiring the youngest students among us through the School’s Bachelor of Science in Public Health program. The Chair is expected to play a prominent role in the local, regional, national and global biomedical and population-based research and education and community practice.
