BCHS offers a master’s degree program which prepares students for careers in public, voluntary, and private organizations that focus on public health concerns and two doctoral degree programs.
The doctoral programs prepare students for careers in research, leadership, and teaching in academic and practice settings.

The Department of Biostatistics offers the following degrees:
- Master of Science (MS)
- Master of Science (MS) with Concentration in Health Data Science (HDS)
- Master of Science (MS) with Concentration in Statistical and Computational Genomics (SCG)
- Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
Students gain an understanding of statistical methods, various statistical computational procedures for analyzing, processing and interpreting large-scale data sets; work with faculty on developing new methodologies; and have the opportunity through research and service to apply these methods to current problems in biomedicine and public health. We have many ongoing collaborative research projects on which students can work directly with faculty for training and experience.

- Environmental and Occupational Health

The EOH Department offers two degrees in the environmental health sciences, providing a broad theoretical and practical education for positions in academia, industry, or government. The multiple tracks provide flexibility in acquiring advance training in toxicology, environmental biophysics, molecular and cellular pathobiology, risk assessment, and exposure science.

Our professional degree programs allow students to earn concentrations in environmental health or risk assessment and apply these concepts to public health practice.

Students and faculty perform studies on the principles and practice of environmental health ranging from basic research at the cellular and molecular level to applied translational studies of human disease, population exposure, and public health studies.

Our epidemiology graduate programs incorporate into the teaching program activities that provide a practical educational experience that is based on a foundation of research excellence. Students take a series of core courses in epidemiology and public health and may choose to focus on one of several areas of emphasis.

Pitt Public Health human genetics faculty and students currently are involved in varied research projects and have developed and used genetic methods to investigate the causes and treatment of hereditary and acquired human illness and to understand and explore the impact of genetics on public health, education, and disease prevention.

Our integrated microbiology graduate programs are devoted to the education and training of graduate students in various molecular, immunologic, epidemiologic, and biologic aspects of microbial pathogenesis, as well as infectious disease control, prevention and education.
