The University of Pittsburgh Department of Health Policy and Management’s Master of Health Administration (MHA) program has been rated the 14th-best program in the nation in new rankings released by U.S. News and World Report.

With a three-spot improvement, the MHA program continues to excel as a national leader in preparing graduates for managerial roles in a wide range of health care and health care-related organizations. It maintains Pitt’s place as the highest-ranked program in Pennsylvania.

“The newest rankings show that we have sustained positive momentum in the direction of our program, especially through the challenges we faced during and after the pandemic,” says Dr. Kevin Broom, Health Policy and Management Vice Chair for Education and Director of the MHA and MHA/MBA programs. “These results re-establish us within the top echelon of programs in the nation.”

The MHA program offers students a competency-based curriculum and an array of professional development resources and activities to prepare graduates for key leadership roles across the health industry. Employment settings include health systems, health insurance, consulting, group practice management and many other industry employers.

With engaged learning experiences, including management residencies integrated within the curriculum, the MHA program allows graduates to excel in the health industry.

In 2022, the MHA program saw 100 percent of students graduate on time and immediately gain full-time employment.

Graduates of the MHA program have gone on to successful careers in executive positions in the health care industry all over the United States and the world.
